Columbia Golf, South Carolina Golf Report!

Columbia Golf South Carolina Golf Academy

LAKE MURRAY GOLF CENTER TO HOST SPECIAL EVENT!

South Carolina golf is in full swing, but before recognizing local high school golf players, I want to report on some college level South Carolina golf.

This spring the Gamecocks and the Tigers will play in at least three of the same events. Last week in Charleston at Bulls Bay (“The Hootie”), the teams were paired in the final group along with North Carolina State. The Gamecocks had a small lead on both the Tigers and the Wolfpack but NC State went loco shooting 13 under for a blow out win. Kyle Stanley, the first team All American for Clemson, made a 15-footer on the last hole for his team to tie South Carolina Golf for second place. Both teams will tee it up at Furman and Augusta State which are both this week, so stay tuned for results! The Tigers and Gamecocks have Top 20 rankings but they are both easily in the Top 10 in the country, but what is really interesting is that both squads could contend for the National Championship!

Columbia Golf School South Carolina Golf In high school golf, Airport had a solid shoo-in at the Hartman Memorial in Pageland. They finished 5th while Brookland Cayce placed 11th. There were 22 Columbia golf teams competing.

The Columbia golf community has a lot to look forward to! On May 10, Lake Murray Golf Center will be the location for a special Columbia golf event, when several college coaches will be talking about the route to college golf, beginning at 1 PM. Coaches have at least committed to the event, and you will have to stay tuned-in for more details!

The Irmo-Chapin Recreation Commission will have two summer golf camps for boys and girls of all skill levels, ages 7-18. South Carolina golf course, Crooked Creek will host the first Columbia golf camp from 9 AM to 12 noon, June 9 – 13.
